1) What do you do and what is it about your job that gets you out of bed in the morning?
I work on the Strategy and Innovation team in LexisNexis Healthcare (formerly known as Market Planning). I love the fact that the solutions we offer to healthcare organizations can make their operations more efficient and, in turn, improve health outcomes for individuals. Knowing that our solutions can benefit the elderly, disabled, or others with chronic illnesses makes me passionate about what I do. I am grateful to work with other individuals who are eager to make a difference in the healthcare space as well.
2) How did you get to where you are today?
My path to my current role was definitely not straight! I began in a technical role right out of college, where I learned the basics of implementation and customer support at a SaaS organization. From there, I transitioned to LexisNexis, where I moved into client-facing, solution delivery roles before ultimately joining the Strategy team. Reflecting on my journey, I can easily see how each job prepared me for the next level. I am very grateful for the opportunity to have the background I do, as it gives me a better perspective when understanding how we serve the market with our products and solutions.
3) What is the most important lesson you have learned along the way?
A quote by Maya Angelou says, “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but will never forget how you make them feel.” The greatest lesson I have learned is that this can apply to one’s career path too. Often, how you treat people and build relationships can determine your path forward as much as your capability and work ethic.
4) What's your pitch to CEOs in the identity space? What do you suggest they START / STOP / CONTINUE doing and why?
I would suggest leaders in this space continue to invest in identity solutions and ensure they have strong partners who can advise them on the risks and threats occurring across the technology landscape. It is to their benefit to understand as much as they can in terms of cyber threats so that they can better protect their organizations.
