We’ve been watching the COVID-19 situation as it evolves. Our top priority has to be the health and wellbeing of our members – especially those who attend physical events on behalf of Women in Identity. Along with much of the industry, the WiD Exec took the difficult decision to cancel all Meet-Ups for the foreseeable future. We will review the situation again at the end of May.
But that doesn’t mean you can’t still connect and chat to your fellow WiD members. We have formally launched our online Forums to facilitate group discussions, local country updates and generally ensure you are never more than a click away from a friendly ear or shoulder!
The Forums are a place for all our supporters to collaborate. You are welcome to browse the Forums without an account and if you don’t find what you want, simply register for an account and post your question!
We are also looking into how we can run more webinars and virtual events to support you. If you are interested in getting involved, please contact events@womeninidentity.org
Top Tips on helping you Work From Home (WFH)
-
- Try to maintain regular contact with colleagues – make time for a virtual water cooler chat. Better still, why not dial into the WiD daily Coffee Break. No agenda, no work stuff – just a chance to swap WFH tips!
- Create a ‘going to work’ routine:
- Get dressed :)!
- Go for a short walk around the block before you start at the “office”.
- Have a dedicated area, if possible, that can be separate from your personal living space. If you need to use the kitchen table, clear away all evidence of breakfast and, similarly, clear away all your office kit at the end of the day.
- Be clear about what you want to achieve each day. Without the structure of meetings and a busy work diary, things can drift and you find you’re constantly checking emails and social feeds. Try to have concrete deliverables so you know when you are “done”.
- Have clear lunch and coffee breaks and use the time to do something that allows you to clear your head and escape from screens. Maybe your neighbour needs their dog walked? Or you can tackle that (small) chore you’ve been avoiding for weeks!
